RUG, hand spun

H2002.28

Heavy hand spun rug. Orginally purple but large areas of rug have faded to original colour of yarn, a grey-brown colour. Rug has a repeating pattern of squares, some squares have small rows of loops closely stitched together, alternating squares have long rows of stitches more widely spaced within square. Two edges of rug are hemmed, two edges stitched at selvage to prevent fraying.
