Wooden single bed with wire base. Ends (detachable) are unadorned plywood panels within frames. Base is made of heavy timber with right angle iron reinforcing (reinforcing painted gold), wire mesh (spring) is stretched across the base, secured at the ends only. One end which can be tightened to stretch the wire mesh. Painted on one side of base (stencilled in red ink): 'TROJAN/ REGD/ RUSTLESS/ STEEL FABRIC/ INDEPENDENT/ SPRINGING'. Metal fittings to attach ends to box have raised inscription 'JB'.
