Book with dark blue cover printed in gold on the spine 'A/ SYNOPSIS/ OF/ MIDWIFERY/ ALECK W./ BOURNE/ WRIGHT: BRISTOL/ SIMPKIN: LONDON'. Entwined intials at centre of spine 'VVJ&S'. This information is repeated inside the book which was printed in 1913. 'Dr.N.L.Cass', has been stamped on many of the book's pages. Chapters include information on conception, diagnosis of pregnancy, abnormalities of the generative tract and diseases, normal and abnormal labour, the puerpural state, reproductive insanity, care of the new-born and obstetric surgery.
