Small 362 page, hardback cover dictionary. The cover is maroon with gold lettering - 'BAILLIÈRÉS/ MIDWIVES'/ DICTIONARY/ VERA DA CRUZ/'. The letters 'BTC' with 'MENS SANA IN CORPORE SANO' are written within a crest, followed by 'THIRD EDITION'.
The front and back pages have been used for advertising - with a medical theme. There is a small blue sticker on the front inside cover - 'Ramsay's/ MEDICAL BOOKS/ 340 SWANSTON ST./ MELBOURNE'. The contents cover terminology used in Midwifery. There are several illustrations, including instruments and equipment used.
