SLOUCH HAT, with emu plume
H1993.287
Khaki felt slouch hat. Creased at top, brim turned up on left side. Left trim is held by metal hook. Adorned at this location with the gilt AIF 'Rising sun' badge, and emu feather plume. Hat band is puggaree has seven pleats, the centre pleat is red. Right side of hat band is located black and yellow diagonally halved colour patch of 10th Light Horse Regiment. This patch is backed by a grey border. The patch is held to the puggaree by glue. AIF Hat badge is marked 'Australian Commonwealth Military Forces'. Leather sweat band is marked 'MADE BY/ FAYREFIELD/ MELBOURNE/ 7 1\8/ 1988'. Inside of hat is marked in texta '17'. Leather chin strap.
