TWO-UP KIP AND COINS

A flat piece of wood shaped at one end and wrapped with glass/ sand paper to prevent slipping. Inscription reads 'PRESENTED TO IAN TAYLOR MLA' on one side and 'KIP USED IN FIRST LEGAL GAME - KALGOORLIE BUSH TWO-UP' Seven x 1d coins with white paint crosses on `tail' side. 1 x 1939, 3 x 1948 & 3 x 1951. Two-up kip used by Mr Bill Donovan, aged 94 when opening the first game of legal two-up on 24 July 1983. Kip and seven 1d coins presented to Ian Taylor MLA . Mr Taylor, MLA, Deputy Premier of Western Australia, Minister for the Goldfields and Minister of State Development used the kip and coins when launching the World Two-up Championships at Kalgoorlie Race Course on 2 September, 1992 (Hannans Cup Day). Mr Dennis Lillee performed the first throw (West Australian and Australia cricketer famous for his fast bowling). After the launch the kip was presented to Mrs Pam Moore, Branch Curator, Museum of the Goldfields.
