SCHOOL BADGE
H1992.107
Shield shaped badge from Princess May School, Fremantle. Main body of badge is light blue enamel with a darker blue border around edge. Crown surmounts a motto reading `Persta/Praesta'. Initials P.M.G.S entwined underneath. Princess May Girls School opened in 1900 having been built on a site reserved for it since 1894. It was formally named during the visit to Fremantle in 1901 of the Duke & Duchess of Cornwall & York. In 1947 It became a High School and the pupils were transferred to John Curtin Senior High School in 1957.
