WATER CLOSET, Half Model (Toilet Bowl)

"THE / MAXIM / ???P AREA 24sq? ". Plain white, with simple moulded decoration around top outside rim. The washout closet was produced from 1870, it had a bowl with some water retained, and an S - bend trap. An improved " Unitas " model was introduced in 1885, and was the first free standing pedestal water closet. This is one of 5 sectioned models, most of which are washdown closets, an improvement on the " Unitas " washout closet and produced about the same time as the Unitas, and with names similar to the Unitas.
