COURT SHOES, Flat

Yellow taffeta court shoes. Round slightly pointed toes. Resin sole with a 5mm stacked heel. Small tag at the back of the each shoe. From this hangs a tassle made from green, yellow and orange silky thread. Shoes upper are canvas with a leather strip around the inside edge. Chamois heel grips. Reinforced puffs and stiffeners. Outside of uppers are taffeta. The insole of each shoe has a taffeta lining and a small rectangular label stitched onto the lining. The label is grey with the following name embroidered on it; "STUART MEMBERY". Stuart Membery is a well known Australian designer of shoes and clothes. On the soles of the shoes is a stamped imprint detailing the size of the shoes and the materials used. The details are as follows; "8 1/2" and "NON LEATHER UPPER / LEATHER LINING / RESIN SOLE". The owner of the shoes Ms Moya Smith bought the shoes from a shoe store in City Arcade which is situated in central Perth. Ms Smith is a member of the museum staff. The shoes came in a white cardboard box (H90.382).
