Glass tube, half filled with liquid. Has catgut wrapped around piece of wood. Paper label reads 'Catgut No. 4/0 / PLAIN / ETHICON / DON'T BOIL / Johnson & Johnson / PTY LTD SYDNEY'. Glass tube very roughly made (although obviously commercially made.)
