DISPENSERS x2, with cotton pellets

H1989.844.a-b

TWO DISPENSERS:
[.a] Square metal box with no base and jutting lip at top to flip lid open. Grid of wire covers box opening. Cotton pellets are contained in card box which reads: 'PD Absorbent / Cotton Pellets / No 3' on all four sides. Base of box has round hole, pellets rest on card base; this in turn rests on the metal base of the box with a hole to allow the card to be pushed up by the finger when the pellet supply diminishes. Pellets are picked out at the top with instrument, therefore need to be hard up against grid. Hinged lip of metal box reads 'MADE IN SWITZERLAND / for RICHMOND DENTAL COTTON COMPANY / CHARLOTTE, N.C.'
[.b] Has round metal base with glass dome lid. The metal base has two components which unscrew. The bottom piece is a dome with lip. The top is a dome, with no lip, and a series of 8mm diameter holes. The cotton pellets nest inside this dome, and are sandwiched between it and the bottom half. Top dome has spike attachment which screws the components apart or together. The lid is a cut glass dome with a long handle, shaped like a bell. There is a leaf/flower pattern cut into glass. 'Kalgoorlie / Kal / KAL / JC' has been engraved amateurish manner in glass.
