Pale blue timetable "ORIENT LINE / ROYAL MAIL / STEAMERS / AUSTRALIA / ENGLAND 1936-37" on front cover. Item is of heavy paper and is folded to produce 4 sections which are printed back and front. Information includes"OUTWARDS" and "HOMEWARDS" ports of call and arrivals and departure dates for steamers "ORMONDE", "ORONTES", "ORION", "ORAMA", "OTRANTO", "ORONSAY", "ORSOVA" and "ORFORD". Ports of call include London, Gibralter, Palma, Toulon, Naples, Port Said, Aden, Colombo, Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Burnie, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart, Suez, Naples, Plymouth and Villefranche. One section lists the ships, their tonnage, "H.P" and classes of passenger travel. Another lists the Line's managers and agents, the destinations of cruises with passenger classes available, and an address for passengers' mail. The timetable belonged to Mrs Smith's mother who came to Perth in 1919 as a war bride. The young woman was desperately homesick and collected timetables in the hope that there would be means and opportunity to return to England for a visit, but this was not achieved until 1956 and she could not wait to come back home to Perth.
