Case has several small dents, hinges damaged, slightly damaged where inner case to works opens. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial and A.W.Co. \ WALTHAM . Case marked with what appear to be copies of the Birmingham silver hallmark for 1886-7. (Shields not consistent with marks in Wyler Silver Hallmarks) Shield on outside of case. Belonged to Mr William Turner who was in the Indian Army before coming W.A. on the convict ship (Belgravia) as a guard in 1866. He was later the sexton at the old Fremantle cemetery until it was no longer used. Copy of family history from bible in Battye. Mr Jukes: The serial number on the movement indicates a date between 1885 and 1890, about the middle of the series, i.e. 1887. English silver cases were imported for use with American movements.
