Very fine quality old Kang-he blue and white bowl decoarted with two travellers on mules crossing a bridge towards a pavillion in winter time, followed by two servants. Rocky landscape inside base with swastika and blossom border. Panel of chinese writing beside servants. Mark on base: two blue circles and six sets chinese characters. Ann Roberts: A blue and white bowl, of steeply rounded form with flared and liped rim, the exterior painted with two figures riding on mules across a bridge in a mountanous landscape, with two servants following on foot., the reverse with a four line poem, the interior with a landscape medallion and formal border, 19.6cm., six charachetr mark and period of Kangxi (K'ang Hsi).
Purchased from Hyam and Co., fourth Kensington, 3 January 1921 for £5.10s.
