Opinion of Mrs R. Walkley (President, Embroiders' Guild): 19th century French (silk, double face embroidery, style and netting are indicators of French origin). Double face embroidery, floral design, including roses. Skilled work. Netting fringe.
Addition 10.2.86: "Canton" shawl of cream silk, embroidered with peonies in cream silk thread; deep, knotted fringe.
