H.M. Colonial Ship "Protector" built 1882. Guarded S.A. coast. Commander: Captain Creswell. (later Sir William Rook Creswell). First R.A.N. ship commander was first member of Australian Naval Board. Captain Clave who served on her was the first District Naval Officer for W.A.
