OIL PAINTING "Rose"

Subject Matter: Portrait of the "Rose". Flag indicates the vessel part of the fleet of J. & W. Bateman, Fremantle. "Rose" 793 tons, in 1893 described in Lloyds Register as wooden barque. Barque is three-masted with fore and main masts square rigged and mizzen mast fore and aft rigged. Other: See CH85.350 The "Rose" traded between Fremantle and other coastal ports before and after 1900. The painting hung for many years in "BRENTWOOD", the old Bateman home in Mary Street, Fremantle.
