Single funnel, two-masted steamer of the Alfred Holt Blue Funnel line. Not signed or dated. 'Sultan' appears on bow of ship. 'A.H.' on flag flown from rear mast and bow. Back of frame: 'Sultan' in white chalk. 'SS Sultan/ First steamer to enter Fremantle newly constructed harbour/ 4th May/ 1897'.
