Introduction
The following report has been writtlen as a result of a challenge set me by Dr Michael McCarthy at the Westem Australian Maritime Museum i.e to join his team for a brief period and to contribute to its work. At the time I was travelling abroad and while in Fremantle sought an opportunity to become involved in some aspects of museology and he recognised in me and in my background an oppoturnity to develop a theme in his research, the study of one of Western Australia's almost forgotten European settlers, Eliza Broadhurst (1839-1899).
