Introduction
In January 1982, during the final season of excava lion of lhe Rapid, a leam of archaeologists, students and volunteers, carried out a field survey of the Norwegian Bay Whaling Slation. The main aims of lhe project were firstly, to map the site; and. secondly. to identify and record the various physical components of industrial activity and their relation 10 one another. When weather conditions permilted, a preliminary search of the sea bed in the vicinity of the main jetty was made.
