The City of York Bay Unidentified wreck was originally reported in 1992 and known as the ‘Ephgraves wreck’ or ‘City of York Bay Unidentified’ for over three decades. This report was prepared following timbers from the wreck periodically washing ashore or becoming dislodged and dragged onto beach by members of the public. Through detailed historical research and timber analysis, the site has now been identified as Transit (1899), a lighter involved in the salvage of timber from City of York.
