This is a translation of Pelsaert's original journal that is in the Netherlands State Archives. There have been many different tarslations of this journal, starting with the one in Henerietta Drake Brockman's book,  Voyage to Disaster and translated by Drock. Marit van Huystee, working in the Department of Maritime Archaeology, made a traslation in 1994. Later another tarslation was made by Adriaaen de Jong in 2017.
