Introduction
On Apri 18th and 9th, 1974ยท this author accompanied Hugh Edlvards and Jeremy Green on an inspection of the Dutch shipwreck 'Zeewyk' and the related sites on Gun Island "here the marooned survivors camped. The goal was to formulate guidelines and recommendations for the archaeological excavation of the land sites. Towards this end, this paper presents a brief resume of Gun Island's history that could be relevant to an archaeological investigation and also outline problems future excavators will have to cope with.
