The fishing boa t Swan sank in the breakers off Beacon Island, 150 miles north of Fremanile on the 14th. Two of the men were drowned, and the third, Lucas Matons, swam two miles to the island. He had an awful experince until rescued on the 19th by another fishing party, having lived five days on crabs, berries, and salt water.
