IVORY PANEL

CH1979.549

Finely carved ivory panel mounted on a stand (of inferior workmanship). Panel is carved with same pictorial design as on CH1979.580 on the reverse side with several symbols. Reverse of panel depicts a large leaf and above this what appears to be a scroll stand and an open scroll. To the right is a hare on a stand.
Ann Roberts: 'An ivory rectangular screen and stand, one side with a dignitary on horseback followed by an attendant on foot, watched by maidens from a nearby pavilion window, the reverse with precious objects, all carved in relief'. Has B.A.D.A sticker.
