CUP AND SAUCER
CH1981.406
Wide, footed cup. Edge of cup and saucer moulded and gilded. Painted with wheat sheaves. Both markedon base, printed mark in red: 'DAVENPORT' in ribbon curved around anchor. According to Godden this mark in other than underglaze blue signifies a date pre -1830. Pattern number in gilt '166'. A marked item with registration mark for 1856 has pattern number 1174. According to Cushion, Pottery and Porcelain Tablewares, the handle indicates a date of c 1830.
