SCARF

CH1980.380

Cream fabric with cream fringe and embroidery. Flowery, leafy embroidery pattern in one corner and extending down two adjacent sides. Embroidered in satin stitch. 11cm knotted fringe on all four sides. Knot attaching fringe to fabric also serves to sew down hem on fabric. Knotting forms five lines of mesh. Hand sewn. Terminology uncertain, but appears to be a scarf/fichu. Circa 1880's-1900's.
