ILS a) Crimea medal (1854-6). Obv. head of Queen Victoria & 1854 wording VICTORIA REGINA . Rev.
flying figure of Victory crowning with a laurel leaf of Roman Warrior. Bars inscribed Sebastopol, Inkermann & Alma, indicate battles. Bars in form of oak leaves. Green & yellow ribbon. Silver. b) Turkish medal for the Crimean War. (1854-6). Presented to certain of soldiers and sailors of Allied forces after war by Turkish Government. Obv. field gun & map of Crimea spread open. Background flags of British, French, Sardinian & Turkish flags - British and Turkish to the fore. Rev. the Sultan's cypher, within a laurel wreath with the word Crimea in Turkish and the date in Arabic. The original ribbon was only 5/8ths of inch wide. Silver.
