DUPLICATOR, 'Ellams'

[.a] DUPLICATOR; Duplicator in wooden case with handle into which all the parts fit or fold. Comprises inking slate set in box base and in the lid compartments for ink and paper, a silk diaphragm which slots into a bracket, and a printing base with a removable blotter. Attached plate reads 'MAKERS / ELLAMS DUPLICATOR CO. LTD. / LONDON / ENGLAND' Transfers state 'PATENT NO 230345' and 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. Diaphragm bracket is attached to a spring which immediately raises it when catch is released. Section of wooden base is cut away and marked 'D829'. Transfer prints on lid are worn and only partly decipherable 'ELLAMS DUPLICATOR' with patent information.
[.b] BOX, 'INKS', Ellams; Contains empty original box for black ink
[.c] FILWAX BOTTLE in BOX; plain cardboard box with sticker reading: 'ELLAMS / FILWAX / MADE IN ENGLAND'. Inside is a corked bottle with brush and dried correction wax.
