TEA COSY
H1987.816
Large multi-fabric patchwork tea cosy. Irregular patches joined with blue herring bone cross stitch with triangular central panel depicting "thistle, rose & shamrock""1900". The spray of leaves underlining date are pencilled in, but not stitched. Object possibly given to her sister, Nell Julian, by Louisa Hays, whose husband travelled overseas extensively as an importer of books etc. He was a resident of Subiaco from 1880 to 1930. J.J. Julian had a local furnishing store in Burt Street, Boulder (1900 to 1945). The store was near Gilberts Butcher shop. The Julian family were pioneers of the Goldfields.
