BOWL, ceramic, hand painted kookaburras, ‘Laughing Jackasses’, May Creeth

BOWL: two, hand painted, brown and grey kookaburras sitting on a bough, one with a brown snake hanging from its beak. Within the bowl, blue sky fading into a decorative, fluted and scalloped edge which is tinted beige. The beige pattern extends down the sides into the bowl. The underside is painted pink. 'Laughing Jackasses/Western Australia/M.Creeth' is painted in grey within the white foot. 'M & Z/AUSTRIA' together with a green manufacturer's mark, is stamped within the foot. '81/52' is printed in black alongside this and is probably the National Trust's identifying number.
