PLATE, small, handpainted with Golden Whistlers by Mavis Sedgley

PLATE: small round white porcelain plate painted on-glaze with sprigs of yellow wattle (Mimosaceae or acacias) and green leaves with a pair of Golden Whistlers sitting on the bough. The male has black, yellow, white and fawn markings and the female is brown and white. The plate is gilded along the edge. The backgrounnd is pale yellow with pink and blue fading.The rear of the plate is lustre painted in yellow around the edge whilst internally, within the foot 'Golden Whistlers/and/Cootamundra Wattle/M.I Sedgley/1950' is hand painted. A green maker's mark 'BONE CHINA/ROYAL WORCESTER/MADE IN ENGLAND' is stamped almost centrally within the foot, which is also gilded.
