The ornate spine has the title and 'Mrs Gaskell' including the illustrator 'Hugh Thomson'embossed onto it.The edging is gold. Inside a glued label has 'GIRLS' SECONDARY SCHOOL/NAIROBI/PRIZE' with 'Patricia Anderson...December 1932'. The book has 297 pages and has 16 chapters.
