MEDALLION in box:
[.1] gold plated, round, flat medal. Obverse: in centre, a map of Western Australia with the Pilbara region highlighted in a block using a finely engraved pattern of diagonal lines. Below the Pilbara, an illustration of the Australian Coat of Arms with the motto 'Australia' engraved in small lettering within a scroll, surmounted by the Kangaroo and emu supporting the escutcheon and a crest of the Commonwealth star. The words 'Minister for Foreign Affairs' are engraved on the periphery of the medallion, above the outline of the state and at the bottom, the words 'Diplomatic Corps Visit WA May 2014'. Reverse: in large print, the words 'THE PERTH MINT/ AUSTRALIA' featured on the periphery and in the centre, a circular shaped image of a swan with detailed feathers. Medal in encased in a clear plastic round container.
[.2] box; rectangular in shape and covered in gun-metal coloured imitation leather with a metal hinge along back. On the bottom left of the lid appears the same swan image as displayed on the medallion; the inside lid is padded and lined with a black satin-like material with the words 'THE/ PERTH MINT/ AUSTRALIA' printed in gold - to the left of this, the swan image, also in gold. The bottom holds a black velvet(?) lining that is slightly raised; at the centre of this, a sunken circular bed of 0.5cm depth, in which holds the medallion. A small thumbnail indentation to the top right of this bed to allow medal to be removed.
