Small, palm-sized, round, yellow painted tin container, with lid and images of bees and font printed in black.
[.1] base; printed on one side in black font, ‘Warranted a good time/ ONE DAY BEE/ will go in any position.’. Printed on opposite side, ‘No key required to wind the/ clock, Turn the back./ Patented April 23, 1878’. Printed on side in small font near metal seam, ‘GINNA & CO. N.Y.’.. Detailed image of 50 cent sized bee printed on side. Underside of base has image of industrial landscape with printed black font, ‘VIEW OF FACTORIES/ BROOKLYN, New York,/ U.S.A’.. Cotton wool inside container.
[.2] lid; printed to top in black font, ‘BEE’, ‘ANSONIA CLOCK CO. SOLE MANUFACTURERS NEW YORK U.S.A’, ‘PRIZE MEDAL AWARDED/ AT/ PARIS EXPOSITION 1878’, with two sides of a French-styled republique coin, surmounted by two bees and trademark symbol.. Obverse side of printed coin in black font, ‘REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE’ and reverse, ‘PARIS/ EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNATIONAL DE 1878’.
