MOP & BUCKET

H1990.41

Mop and Bucket.
[.a] Galvanised metal bucket with a thick wire handle. The base reads 'REG. DESIGN/ WILLOW/ PAT. APPLN'. There is a clean circular area on one side with shreds of paper where a label has almost entirely come awy. The bucket has a foot operated lever on one side and a foot plate on the other to maintain the bucket's stability when in use. Two rollers are supported on two metal strips over the barrel of the bucket, and when the foot lever is pressed one lever is drawn over to the other, effectively squeezing a mop head suspended between the rollers. A spring on the outside of the bucket returns the foot control to it's elevated position, releasing the rollers and readying the food lever for use.
[.b] Mop has a long wooden handle with a multi-stranded cotton fibre head at one end, and has a hole drilled at the other, threaded with tape to facilitate hanging. Marked on the handle is '.36EA', indicating a purchase price of 36 cents.
