Rectangular, textured, white and silver, uneven checked patterned, paper covered, cardboard presentation box and lid, containing two small open pearl shells, one above the other, with three separate small round pearls set in cotton wool, behind broken glass covering. Pearl shell at top of box has a vertical hinge in the centre and is open horizontally. Shell at bottom is single half with hinged section at top. Small round pearl attached to centre of shell. ‘MIE KOGEI-SHA/(map of japan)/JAPAN’ in gold lettering printed on small, red, oval shaped, metallic sticker with gold border, stuck on glass at bottom left. ‘CULTURED PEARL’ printed in black on small rectangular piece of cream paper underneath glass at top. Textured paper folded over edges at back, leaving centre of back uncovered. Inside lid uncovered.
