TROPHY, WOOD (DAPHNE SAMSON MEMORIAL)

Cup shaped trophy made from orange-coloured turned wood with fine, spotted grain. Some sections appear to be different coloured wood. Trophy features 32 shield-shaped plaques bearing women's names (except those which are initials) and year dates from 1954 to 1985. The shields are nailed onto both the wide base of the cup and the bottom of the stem. Also on the stem is a larger, oblong plaque inscribed 'DAPHNE SAMSON MEMORIAL TROPHY/ For Decorative Art/ Presented To The Fremantle/ Horticultural Society by/ W. Fred Samson in Memory of/ HIS WIFE Daphne Alice Sampson/ STG.SIL.'
Bottom signed in pencil 'J. Maverick (?)'.
