A single shot, bolt action .22 target rifle, accopmanied by a wooden storage box with compartments for accessories. The rifle is of steel barrel, breech and bolt, wood stock and plastic trigger guard and but plate. It is marked on top of the barrel 'OF MOSSBERG & SONS . INC./ NEWHAVEN, CONN. U.S.A./ No. 26B 22 S-L-L-R' The serial no. is under the barrel (hidden by the stock) 12927. The foresight consists of several different profiles which can be flipped up into position, depending on the type needed. The rearsight is missing. The peep-sight on the rear of the breech section is marked 'MOSSBERG/ No 4/ PAT. PEND.'
The rifle is accompanied by a wooden box with a lid that slides out to the side in dovetail grooves (H.19994.80.2). The box has supports to hold the rifle and contains;
H.1994.80.3 - toothbrush for cleaning gun 'JOHNSON & JOHNSON TEK JUNIOR/ NYLON' blue.
H.1994.80.4 - Circular masonite disc with handle for marking bulleyes 'IDAM/ 4.5 INCHES/ C.J. LAMBE'.
H.1994.80.5 - Pullthrough. Brass weight, cord and wire/ bristle cleaning brush and patch loop.
H.1994.80.6 - Tin of gun oil. 'BURRSTHRED' made by 'C R BURR/ GLENHUNTLY, VICTORIA/ AUSTRALIA'.
