There are two photographs framed together. The larger sits below the smaller which is oval in shape. Both photographs are framed in cardboard. Glass covers both pictures and a large detailed dark wooden frame has a small border on the inside of the glass painted gold. The frame itself appears to be hand carved in two different patterns surrounding the total frame. The main picture below the smaller oval one, depicts 7 men, 3 seated on wooden chairs, 4 standing. All men are in three piece suits. One man (right hand side) has a bandage (white) covering the whole of the top of his head. The backdrop appears to be painted with a French door opening on the right hand side of the photograph. The backdrop appears to be depicting clouds and trees ?. The picture itself has a border of ink covering three sides of the photograph. The picture above the main , is oval in shape. It shows a ship at sea. The photograph is panned to give a portrait effect. The ship itself has the name 'Dimboola' painted on the stern. The text appears to be printed by machine in black ink, except the photographers signature. The text reads 'W.A. State Industrial Disputes Committee, (underlined)/ Which controlled the Fremantle Waterside Trouble - April=May, 1919./ 'S.S. DIMBOOLA'/.../C.M. Nixon/ Fremantle/ C. Haynes. A. Watts. W.F. Forster. Fred Baglin./ Alex McCallum. A.H. Panton. W.M. Renton' The back of the photograph is covered with a thin layer of wood which is marked and scraped in places. The adhesive tape covers each side of the back of the frame, and is peeling, which in turn is exposing rusted nails. There are two large metal hooks (round on each side of the back of the frame). Rusted wire runs through both hooks, (5 pieces of uncoiled wire). In places the wooden back appears to have ink or paint marks? The bottom of the back of the frame contains a sticker indicating who the picture framer was and address, as well as a woman with a paint palet to the right hand side . Text on the back of photo read 'To be returned to/ Waterside Workers Union/ Fremantle/ 1 SM/ (sticker reads J.H. Inverarity/ Artists' Colourman./ Picture Frmaer/ & print setter/ 100 High Street/ FREMANTLE/ Phone 166.'
