Made by expedition members on the joint ANARE/NZARP Antarctic expedition 29 Oct 1991 - 16 Jan 1992 as a sledging flag to attach to a skidoo so that it can be seen as it traverses the hilly terrain. Flag shows the Antarctic continent, Bothriolepsis, (a Placoderm fish that lived 380m years ago) and `Beacon' refers the Beacon supergroup sequence of rocks, the ones containing the fossils studied by the group.
