MALLET, Caulking
T1982.126
Mr Oldfield was a ship's joiner from Hull. He came to Australia at age of 34 or 35 on the Antarctic Research Ship 1950-51 expedition, on Discovery II, (he has a photo album of it). He later married Rae Walker, younger of Mavis Walker's (see T82.8, T82.113-125) two younger sisters. Jack Walker at that time had retired from the ship building business in Broome and was living in Wardie Street, South Fremantle. Harry Oldfield worked as a shipwright (less specialised than a ship's joiner) in Western Australia.
