a. White box covered with brightly coloured paper label on lid. The writing on the lid is 'ASSORTED STENCIL / SILHOUETTES / TO DRAW / TO COLOUR / TO CUT-OUT / for GUMMED PAPER CRAFT & PENCIL OUTLINES / MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' Near the top is 'Regd. / BUTTERFLY BRAND' below a picture of a butterfly. The information on the edge of the box includes the following 'Contents : SHEETS OF BRIGHTLY COLOURED GUMMED PAPER - CUT OUT SILHOUETTE FIGURES - PLAIN BOARD FOR PICTURE MAKING' and 'STOCK No. 478' There are eight brightly coloured pictures of animals and a train and boat on the front cover. On the bottom of the box is a small sticker with the following information 'ARNOLD11 6 / 73171' b. Assorted cutouts. They are on white cardboard and have been traced around with pencil. Examples are camel, Dutch woman seal, leaf, horse, giraffe, butterfly, tree, plane, train, wheelbarrow and windmill. There are a total of 47 cutouts. c. Paper. There are three pieces of plain heavy paper, One piece of gummed paper, and two pieces of tracing paper. The toys were used by Miss Frances Rogers. Miss Rogers, born on 19 Oct 1904, went to Teacher's College in 1930 and joined the Education Department of W.A. in 1934. Between 1934 and her retirement in 1967, she taught at various country schools, took special classes for deaf and dumb children in Mosman Park, and classes for mentally and physically disabled children in Leederville. She also made and purchased a large collection of puppets which were used as teaching aids. These are accessioned under numbers H88/613 to H89/307 (not inclusive).
