Dress, ivory synthetic, strapless, fitted bodice, skirt covered in tiered silk ruffles, '4042 pearl beaded', designed by 'Tarvydas Platinum', Perth, Western Australia, AW14.
H2018.167
This full length evening dress is made from synthetic fabric, with a beaded bodice and appliqued ruffles
through the skirt. The dress is strapless with a sweetheart shaped neckline. Clear plastic 'bra' straps
have been added to counter-act the weight of the dress. The fitted bodice contains boning. Cotton
fabric has been embellished with faux pearls, crystals, sequins and bugle beads and then attached
as a decorative layer to the bodice. The closure is an invisible zip with a hook and eye. The skirt has
layers of tiered sheer ivory synthetic ruffles attached in a curved formation to create a diaphanous
effect. The seams of the skirt are bound. Fully lined with cotton.
History:
This style of dress is from the 'Tarvydas Platinum' range, Ruth Tarvydas' premium label which consisted
of higher quality fabrication and detail and commanded a higher price point. This style is an evolution
of 3301 'Snow Queen' that was shown in Spring/Summer 2009 (SS09). This was an important style
for Ruth and recieved much editorial publicity.
