"Flowers & panels in white relief under the glaze. Decorated with grou of figures "Lange-Lijsen" (Long Elizas). Kea King period. 1796 - 1821." Butterflies also in white relief. Enamel flowers in many colours over relief. Two panels, gilt around frame. Diaper border at top, two blue circles at base. Gulland (1911:154): "These long slim figures we known to the Dutch traders as the "Lange Lijsen" - that is, "slender damsels", and from this they came to be called "Long Elizas" in England.
