SULKY , 'King of the Road'
T1983.104
Built by Tom Doyle. "King of the Road" style - a design of Australian origin. Feature: shafts fixed separately from body, held by form of hinge joint and at rear end on to a spring bar. This gave a more flexible, easier ride in rough country. If a shaft broke (frequent occurrence in rough country) shaft could be replaced quickly without dismantling sulky. Most sulkies of this type built with full tray. Painted black and brown with black and gold trim. Licence plate (red on green): 'AV 13'.
