GEARS, Pair "INVOLUTE"

Mounted standard `INVOLUTE' gear pair. This pair of gears was made and used for Doctoral Research Project by Mr. G. Srikanthan (Mechanical Engineering Department W.A.), involving the construction and development of a `SYNTHETIC' gear system (see T79.17). Involute gears less effective than `SYNTHETIC' ie: (a) Only 50% contact with mating gear while transmitting load, v.90% synthetic contact. (b) 60% less load capacity. (c) Noisier. (d) Greater wear.
