DOCUMENT, and ENVELOPE, Contract, Frederick Anderson and Gibson Kyle

DOCUMENT, [.1] Two paged, folded, manuscript paper, 'Articles of Agreement' between 'Gibson Kyle' and 'Frederick Anderson' to undertake a six year apprenticeship as an 'architect and surveyor' in 'Newcastle upon Tyne'. Handwritten in ink in italic and cursive script, framed with double red ruled lines on all four edges. Front page, right hand side has two impressed seals, the top seal has a crown and 'TWO SHILLINGS 7/SIXPENCE' on it, a crown and 'NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE/23.11.67' is impressed under it. The final page in another ink and date, notes the completion of the articles in March 15th 1873 and is signed by Gibson Kyle. The document is folded in four longitudinally. On one face 'DATED 14th Dec.186?' both names are written in ink with 'Articles of Clerkship', central and underlined. 'Alan & Davies/Newcastle' is handwritten in ink on the bottom
ENVELOPE, [.2] rectangular, contained the Articles of Agreement described above. Buff coloured and torn in two sections. 'ON HER MAJESTY'S SERVICE' and 'Agent General's Department/South Australia' printed on it. 'Mr Frederick Anderson' written in cursive script in ink centrally. 'Agreement with SA Government' handwritten in pencil on right hand corner [.3] Back of envelope has 'J T Arrow/11142/Army and navy Stores' written in purple pencil along one end.
