HEADLIGHT COVERS x 2, World War II, blackout, circular galvanised steel

Pair of round galvanised steel disc blackout headlight covers. Were made to fit to car headlights to obstruct the light from being seen from the air. Spot welded to the discs are semi-circular shades which extend over a narrow 3 1/2 inch slit through which light can be seen and directed down. Inserted into the slit is a narrow piece of transparent corrugated glass. Above this is a circular hole in the metal covered with a piece of white translucent material. Hand made.
