SCARF, silk?, black & brown, paisley

H2008.217

Square (uneven), variegated brown and black tones, silk? scarf. Worn, frayed edges, bordered on two sides by ribbed black loom material. Remaining edges plain black, hemmed material. Main design; Machine/loom embroidered paisley, layered, interwoven design in various brown hues; golden brown, tan, khaki, to black. Patches of reddish discolouration near borders and in corners. Paisley fabric worn in some areas, particularly through the centre of fabric and around edges, causing black colour to ‘bleed’ into design. One corner worn through, borders worn very thin. Reverse: embroidered threads intact, despite wear of fabric. Creases and folds through fabric.
